David Doner is the founder and program director of GRIP Boys Home. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education-Psychology, Health and Physical Education and a Master’s Degree in Counseling. David is determined to help create effective means for young people to succeed in ways that build internal strength. His education and experience combine to bring fresh ideas and new perspective.
David is certified in Reality Therapy and Choice Theory and designed curriculum that was put in place in youth corrections and other facilities. Implementation of his program resulted in higher test scores and helped young people better their skills in communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
David has combined more than 25 years of experience working with kids and adults in many capacities, including but not limited to the following:
- School teacher
- Drug & alcohol counselor
- Guidance counselor
- Youth correctional counselor
- Mental health worker
- Gang task force member
- Foster parent
- School board member
- Eagle Scout
David has spent time preparing curriculum, consulting and doing training for other facilities.
For GRIP, David wants to maintain an environment that builds trust, shows integrity, teaches with enthusiasm and creativity, models responsible risk-taking, and exhibits respect to individuals, regardless of their choices.
He and his wife were married in 1996 and they have an infant daughter.
